Faith Community
As clergy and leaders in the faith community, you are aware of the pain associated with domestic violence. Domestic violence affects one in four women and one in fourteen men in our local communities. We can take steps to prevent intimate partner violence before it happens. You are empowered to share the message of what it means to have a respectful and healthy relationship with those in your faith community. You are able to influence policy at your church and mandate early teen dating violence prevention education. Please consider these resources as we work to prevent domestic violence together.
DELTA offers presentations and trainings for faith leaders, their congregations, and adult and youth ministry programs on issues of abuse and prevention. DELTA also offers regional faith community trainings in an effort to engage and educate faith community leaders about domestic violence primary prevention. Learn to educate youth and adults through incorporating domestic violence prevention and healthy relationships into various ministry programs. These trainings have primarily equipped individual faith leaders and faith community members with more knowledge about domestic violence and information for intervening and preventing abuse. Please contact Lesley Coghill at Lesleyc@aplaceforwomen.org or (616) 494-1741 to request a presentation for your leadership committees, adult education classes, teens, bible studies, deacons, seminary students, and faith community members, etc. Click here to request a domestic violence prevention presentation at your church or for your community of faith.
