Immigration & Domestic Violence

Immigrant women, whether in the US legally or illegally, face particular challenges when they find themselves in an abusive relationship. Language barriers, cultural barriers, fear of authorities, and threats from abusers to take their children or turn them over to authorities combine to make the already challenging process of escaping abuse exponentially more difficult. Learn what we can do as service providers or concerned community members to ensure that immigrant women and their families receive the support and care that is needed to keep them safe. Lupita Reyes from Lakeshore Latino Outreach Center will lead this training.
